The 2016 college football season kicked of Labor Day weekend with the 14th ranked Washington Huskies looking to do some big things this year. If Saturday was any indication, it could be an exciting year. The Huskies hosted the Rutgers Scarlet Knights from the BigTen and dominated right from the start on way to a 48-13 win. The return of speedster John Ross was a huge impact with three touchdowns in his first game since missing last season with a knee injury.
It was a picture perfect sunny day at Husky Stadium as the Illinois Fighting Illini came into town representing the Big Ten. Shaq Thompson Had a monster game on defense with two turnovers returned for touchdowns as the Huskies pummeled the Illini 44-19 to improve to 3-0. This is the time of year that the sun is a big challenge in Husky Stadium. The shadows can play havoc on exposures as plays often start in bright sun and end in dark shadow.
It was good to be back on the field shooting as the 2014 season kicked off on Thursday. The Big Ten newbies Rutgers Scarlet Knights came into Seattle to face the Washington State Cougars playing in their annual “Seattle Game”. Connor Halliday picked right up where he ended last year with a huge game of 532 YDS, 5 TD, 1 INT. But defense and special teams lapses were too much to overcome as the Knights beat the Cougars 41-38.
