The NFL season kicked off last weekend with the Miami Dolphins coming into town. The crowd was hyped up for the season to start as were the players. Both offenses struggled a bit to get points on the board, but the Seahawks struck when they needed to late in the game to pull out a 12-10 victory. The date also marked the 15th anniversary of the 9-11 attack, so there were a lot of service members on hand for pregame ceremonies.
It was a beautiful early fall day at Husky Stadium as the 8th ranked Huskies welcomed the Idaho Vandals from the Sun Belt Conference. This one wasn’t expected to be close, and it lived up to the promise. The Huskies pummeled Idaho 59-13. Jake Browning had 5 touchdown passes and the defense was stellar as usual.
Last Saturday night the Oregon Ducks came into town slightly wounded after being beat at home by the WSU Cougars. The Huskies were coming of a previous week upset of USC on the road. So it was a perfect storm for the Dawgs to finally end the 11 year reign of the Ducks on their home turf, right? Well… Not so fast. The Ducks finally had their playmaker QB Vernon Adams back from injury and we all know what a show he put on last time he was here with Eastern Washington. The Ducks jumped out early with two TDs and had a 10 point lead at the break and even though the Huskies put together a a couple of second half scores, they just couldn’t catch up and the Ducks went on to a 26-20 victory. The Huskies face a tough test next week as they head down to 10th ranked Stanford.
